The original story centres on the return of the older daughter to her family home for Christmas, several years after her father’s death. Upon coming back, she realises that everything has changed: her mother has a new partner, while her younger sister remains completely unaware that this stranger is a potential predator to their home, inheritance and safety. In order to create this intimate play, I adapted the story in dramaturgical dialogue with Tartuffe, highlighting themes of manipulation, naivety, and hypocrisy masked as closeness. To develop a heightened acting mode, the dramatic situations were distilled to their essential points.
