The original text explores the loss of identity triggered by climbing the capitalist ladder. The main dramaturgical approach while working on the adaptation was to compress the play to its key dramatic situations and transform certain dialogue-heavy passages into monologue sequences, thereby amplifying the psychological states of the characters. To emphasise the absurdity embedded in the piece, the acting style was shaped in the direction of the grotesque.
