Based on the original text by Davor Špišić

THE BOY

Trapped between trauma and reality.

Premiere: Marin Držić Theatre Dubrovnik (2023)

The protagonist — a war hero at the beginning and a victim of his own people by the end — is haunted by the demons left in the wake of war. The adaptation was a rewriting of the original text, approached with a strong awareness of the present moment, shaping the hero as a moral compass in a decadent world of political opportunists. His demons emerge through Brechtian songs that stand in contrast to the dramatic scenes portraying the brutality of the real world and human nature. The production is marked by a powerful, atmospheric intensity.
